    This video just reminds me--for all their faults, god the movies nailed the casting. I'd say it rivals Harry Potter in how perfectly it is able to capture the characters of the book into both appearance and demeanor. Standouts have to be Haymitch, Effie, Flickerman, and every single Catching Fire Victor. Jeffrey Wright as Beetee in the interview just perfectly carries that cold steel edge of rebellion--someone mature and composed enough to not devolve into emotional outbursts that can be easily brushed aside, but intelligent enough to still cut to the bone.

    There's a re-edit of the season that removes the Connor/Cordelia storyline entirely and leaves everything else as it is, makes the season the great season it is disguised by that terrible plot which was removed.

    phenomenal video, I enjoyed myself, but one thing I noticed is at 9:07 when you say that it's not a reference to anything, a good point to serve the rest of the video, but whenever I've heard the song I've always thought that it sounds a lot like My Way by Frank Sinatra, i don't know if this has been confirmed but I've always just heard the similarity, and I think it works this way also, since Greg had always been compromising for Rebecca, asking her to settle for him, and finally he is choosing to go to Emory and reclaim his narrative, do things "His Way", almost in a sense of even though this is a TV Show, in the world of the show Rebecca is not the main character and people change and live outside of her bubble

    People say that The Hunger Games is a rip-off of Battle Royale, but......not really. Battle Royale's themes are more about the fear and hatred of young people and what they might be capable of. The Hunger Games' themes are more about society's desire to always be entertained, the glorification of violence in media, and children being used as tools and symbols by both sides of the conflict. The tributes in The Hunger Games are trotted out and made into national celebrities in the weeks before the Games, all to make the ordeal as much of a spectacle as possible. This doesn't happen in Battle Royale (as far as I remember, it's been years since I watched it). If I remember correctly, a lot of the details of the Program in Battle Royale are kept secret from the public. Everything about The Hunger Games, however, is broadcasted on national television, to entertain the Capitol and scare the Districts into submission. Everything, from the tributes' names, their Districts, their rankings, and the bloody violence of the Games themselves are put onscreen for the entire nation to see. If anything, it feels less like The Hunger Games is a rip-off of Battle Royale, and more like it pointed at the people who watched that movie and thought it was cool and called them out on being entertained by children killing each other for sport.

    Days was my first kingdom hearts game. Never heard of the series before that and a friend gave it to me as my first game for my DS after I bought it and had no games. I had NO context to the series, and honestly, days hit so much differently with no context (and I loved it). I really connected with Roxas, and I remember playing 2 after that and being mad when Roxas vanishes and you shift to Sora. I was like "BUT I WANT TO PLAY AS ROXAS NOT THIS SORA" XD

    Since it looks like we won't be getting a She-Ra movie soon, here are some fanfic ideas I came up with for it. Use them how you wish. 1. Catra apology tour 2. Adora and Catra dealing with Shadow Weaver's death 3. The First Ones show up and kidnap Hordak 4. Monster-of-the-week planet fixing 5. Multiversal shenanigans with He-Man (very unlikely)

    The show was great for the first 2 or 3 seasons, once the whole Samaritan part came in I feel that each episode was the same format and became quite predictable. I still watch the show and love it but the last 2 seasons were really stretched out and became the same as every other TV show in terms of format and character developments.

    YES, THE SILENCE! I noticed its use immediately and how well the show chose its moments. Its a tool that screams "FOCUS" to me, when ur supposed to really breathe in something from the story. And not just for big moments, but for smaller one too like the characters just talking and bouncing off of one another. I love it, and I wish I saw it used way more in recent productions.

    This is so relevant in the current situation(g e n o c I d e) of palestine. The way they had to film and perform for social media in order to get some attention to their horrifying situation and yet had to justify their humanity. It all became a trend for a while where celebrities showed their support in the most fake way, many are being appreciated for the most vague posts that they made once. Also the way how dehumanising language is keeping om being used. And this g e n o c I d e is only being shown such attention because they are forced to show and shock such extreme videos of thier conditions unlike the various other g*ncd in Sudan, Congo, etc

    36:44 THIS right there is what I disagree with the most in the entire video. Our ordinary lives... are too privileged to sacrifice ourselves for the sake of making the right choice. That's not to say we wouldn't be capable. But it isn't easier for us to do so. It isn't harder either, at least not for the individual. But statistically speaking... actually the very statistic you mentioned about compassion decreasing with increased wealth statistically disproves that sentence. I also don't like the flavor of guilt tripping in it. Reminds me too much of "look at that amputated person, why are you crying over a scraped knee". That, the quantification and comparison of suffering contributes to killing empathy.

  • @Someone-dv7hw
    @Someone-dv7hw 3 дні тому

    I will believe in the good in humanity and that that lady is wrong only when we break our modern day equivalent of the hunger games. Which, if history is any indicator... even after it takes hundreds of years will likely revive itself at some point. All tyrannies fall... but so do all utopias. The hunger games lasted 75 years. Well, how many years do you think it would take in that fictional world for another cruel system to be born? Do you know when the world wars happened? And we have another war in europe already, didn't even take 100 years. Ok maybe I am getting a bit too cynical right now. But then again... there are very very clear cycles to be found in history. Wealth breeds corruption, corruption inequality, inequality, poverty despair, despair violence, violence after a few revenge cycles eventually broken by compassion, peace brings stability, stability brings wealth and whoops we're right where we started.

  • @Someone-dv7hw
    @Someone-dv7hw 4 дні тому

    26:23 reminds me again... it's the old man who dares first. He can be the first, and therefore sign his death warrant if the others fail to copy, because he has nothing left to lose. Because he is reminded how long he watched and watched. Because the cruelty and guilt probably ate him alive for decades. But at the same time in doing so, he robs many others of the excuse not to. Because he could have just lived his days out in peace... and instead risked brutal murder. The first one to raise a hand could have never been a single parent with a babe, a sole breadwinner, a pregnant woman... it is attention to detail.

  • @Someone-dv7hw
    @Someone-dv7hw 4 дні тому

    21:16 I just realised what blue hair guy (moderator) reminds me off. Why that "wall" you're talking about is so effective. Had that happen in group therapy and sometimes single as well. When getting emotional, especially towards anger despair cynicism... there is nothing worse than being met with awkward silence. Not even dismissal. Cuz if they dismiss you you can use that to fuel your hatred... but if they're uncomfortable... it makes you want to take back everything you said. You have no idea how to fix it so you either shut your mouth or brush it over trying to change topic. Whatever emotion you had just kind of dies and crumbles in your chest. And everyone else is so supremely uncomfortable with it that they reach out to give you a quick comfort or advice and then try their hardest to not think about it. Avoid and cover up. It's so perfect in this context.

    Suzanne Collin’s created something so much bigger than herself. Something that would ring true from the past and echo into the future. Far beyond where hunger games takes place. I think this movie could inspire more change than she ever even imagined. I think, although we’re no where close yet, that she could bring together democrats and republicans with her rhetoric. We are so divided now, but I don’t think it will last for long.
